Low Key Photography
To create this effect i used a black backdrop along with a studio light. The camera settings were on a low aperture high ISO and fast shutter speed. The main objective of this shoot was to apply dramatic tonal lighting throughout the studio in order to experiment with lighting and shadow.
I think that the use of lighting went well in this shoot as it was my first time using Low Key Photography, especially on the close up portraiture images as the face is well defined due to the careful placement of the lights in the studio. I managed to capture a high contrast between light and shadow defining the face more. The majority of my photos are not still photos but instead moving frames explaining why some of the outcomes are not as sharp as i would've liked. I manipulated the photos making the whites brighter and the blacks darker in tone to create more of a contrasting photo as a final outcome.
When I use a low-key shoot next time I will experiment using a smaller aperture and I would also move the light around some more to see what effect it would create on the subject matter.
