Eli Burakian
in 2000 after Burakian graduated from Dartmouth collage he planned to travel to new zealand leading to him purchasing his first slr camera. while over there he quickly took an intrest in nature photography. Initially being fasinated with macro photography he is also interested in the human interaction with the world itself and the connections that come from this. When returning from new zeland he experimented with expanding his personal portfolio of work, in which he began to look at landscapes instead of macro as a focal point. he linked his passion with nature and intertwined the two to find his muse. Although driven in photographing nature After a couple of photography as a side hobby, later in 2007 he finally started his professional photography carreer.

In the image above burakian has captures a macro image of tree bark. the image has been taken at an angle in order to make the photograph create the illusion that it has much more depth than can actually be seen. The minute variation of color creates a image that cleaverly emphasises the highlights and shaddows of the image itself. At the same time the texture is enhanced due to this careful selection of angle and natural lighting. When looking at the different techniques and skills that burakian uses within his work, i am inspired to create my own images in the style of his work.
Being influenced by his use of particular angles and different lighting and visual effcts created by the two techniques working as one. I could look at using the techniques that stand out in burakian's work within my own work, in order to create unique abstract images in the style of burakian. As well as developing my understanding and progressing my skills when taking photographs linking to the abstract movement.

In response to burakian's tree bark photograph that can be seen above my photograph i have created my own response to his work style. Within my image i looked at the angle and lighting that that burakian used within his range of images, i tried to recreate the image of the tree bark. However i found an unusual tree with vibrant lichen spread across the face of it in order to create my own unique feel to the photograph. Within my photograph i used one single focal point with the rest of the imaage appearing slightly blurred at the edges this creates depth and a three dimentional feel to my image. In comparison to burakians photograph of the tree bark my image contains more vibrant colors within it and also contains just one focal point whereas burakians image appears to all be in focas making the photo appear wider.
This photograph depicts an image of a unusual grass composition. In this image it is clear that the careful selection of the location and color work well together in order to create a captivating and unusual effect.
The indervidual grass strands and the movement of them that can be seen within the photograph create an unique absract effect, this along with the combination of the natural light that is refeclecting on each indervidual grass strand creates an illusion and add texture to the image itself. Although there is not much variation of color within this photograph the fresh feel of the image itself makes the onlooker consider and appreciate the photograph as a whole and not focus on just one subject in the image as most other photographs depict one singal focal point. The bright vibrant green that are shown in the image contrast with the shadow underneth the grass itself.
The angle that the photograph was taken sets up the effect and clearly shows the depth of field being portrayed within this image giving the grass within the photograph more definition than just a flat defined shape also enhancing the texture.
Whilst looking at this image and the use of careful placing and and positioning of the camera i am inspired to create an image of my own using this unique and captivating style. I could think about using this in my own work to create unusual and abstract images, developing my understanding and progress my skills when taking photographs including unusual repetitive aspects.
