Christoffer Relander
Christoffer Relander was born in Finland and grew up on the countryside of Ekenäs. His interest in art started at an early age, but it was not until 2008-2009 when serving the in the Finnish Marines, where he found his passion for photography. Today Relander works as a full-time photographer creating work for national and international clients including Adobe and Nikon. His work has also been published in well known publications around the world such as The Guardian' and the Huffington Post.

Relander in his works collects landscapes in jars using analog double exposures. He plays with the idea of being a collector making his environmental photographs into a detailed image invoking the imagination of the onlooker . Most landscapes are from where Relander grew up, mostly focusing on the countryside in the south of Finland. When visiting these places his childhood absorbed him into this project and allowed him to expand his thinking and creative ideas to experiment with new ones. All of the double exposures by relander are shot on medium format film that Relander develops himself. With analog multiple exposures he manipulates photographs within the camera like Mora were her work was created and manipulated in an external software such as Photoshop.

In this image Relander has created a simple background image of a landscape showing a single tree. This single tree image creates the illusion of a small plant growing inside of of the jar itself.  As well as this land at the bottom of the image contrasts with the detail on the jar enhancing the rocky and soil like textures aiding the illusion of a small tree growing within the jar itself. The monochrome of the image subtle highlights important aspects of the image allowing the image to appear three dimensional within the jar itself.

In contrast to the image above handler uses a darker more complex image within the jar, meaning that there is more for the onlooker to interpret when looking at the image. However  the image above looks more three dimensional that the one beside. As well as this the jar itself that the contains the landscape of has more of a rough and antique feel to it aiding the image itself creating a more eire feeling that a calming one as the first one does.
